CHR New Study Approval Process Improvement Project

Background

On April 4, 2014 the Office of Ethics and Compliance announced the start of a lean process improvement project to improve the application and approval process for new studies.

Over the coming months, the CHR office will implement a number of operational and business changes designed to improve the new study submission and review process and reduce time to CHR approval. The overall goals are to reduce the amount of effort required from the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) staff, CHR committee members and Chairs, and the research personnel mainly by simplifying application forms, improving the quality of submissions, identifying and eliminating non-value-added work, and improving coordination between the committees and the research team.

As a result of the project initiatives we expect to achieve a significant reduction in overall times to approval for new Full Committee and Expedited Review research.
